I have a confession: I once thought Twitter was a waste of time.
But the data coming from our Google Analytics account tells another story: Twitter is the number seven source of traffic to our website, outperforming both our RSS feed and Google non-search referrals.
In addition, 46% of the traffic that Twitter brings to our website are new visitors, and when they come to our site, they spend almost a minute longer than the average visitior.
Almost 1.5 million people follow her every move on Twitter. So it should come as no surprise that when “Desperate Housewives” actress Eva Longoria speaks, people listen. But the star is using her popularity for a noble cause: She supports a charity called aHomeInHaiti.org, which helps provide housing for orphans in Haiti. How is she doing it? By tweeting her heart out.
Do you know what percentage of your event participants and donors use LinkedIn--probably more than you think. The number of profiles on LinkedIn has grown by 300% since 2008, according to a new report by Edison Research/Arbitron Internet and Multimedia. And while Americans are far more aware of Twitter than they are of LinkedIn, about 8% have LinkedIn profiles, compared with 7% who say they are tweeters, according to this blog post by Tom Webster, vice president of strategy and marketing at Edison Research.
