Event 360 is proud to announce that our esteemed team member, Bridget Mooney, has been honored at the 2009 LIFE (LPGA Pros In The Fight To Eradicate Breast Cancer) Event as one of the 2009 LIFE Heroes. The LIFE Event, the annual event of the Val Skinner Foundation, mixes LPGA pros and foundation donors for a wonderful day of golf, fun competition and connection to the breast cancer cause. Each year at the LIFE Event luncheon, CEO Val Skinner recognizes two LIFE heroes, which she describes as:
"a person noted for feats of courage or nobility of purpose, especially one who has risked or sacrificed his or her life. The LIFE Event honors individuals, our heroes who have demonstrated courage in the face of breast cancer, and purpose in the fight to eradicate the disease. LIFE Heroes symbolize the lives, faces and stories of millions of women, men and children impacted by breast cancer. The LIFE Heroes we honor serve as our inspiration and motivation to continue a passionate fight against the disease that affects us all."
Bridget is a breast cancer survivor, diagnosed at age 21 with Stage IV breast cancer that had already metastisized to her liver. After her diagnosis, she began volunteering with Susan G. Komen for the Cure® and is now a Breast Cancer 3-Day coach. In 2008, she walked in two Breast Cancer 3-Days in one month, raising $6000 for Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Bridget serves on the Susan G. Komen for the Cure's National Young Women's Advisory Council, a group created in part to focus on the Young Women's Initiative, orginated and driven by the Val Skinner Foundation and LIFE. She is also a speaker at colleges and universities across the country and has been featured in Teen Vogue and on Lifetimetv.com. Bridget was nominated as a LIFE Hero by Susan G. Komen for Cure CEO, Hada Moddelmog, for her work on the Young Survivor Advisory Council, her work on the Breast Cancer 3-Day and most of all, for her unwavering optimism and her passion for sharing her story and positive outlook on life with others.
